The Brief
Tom works from home most of the week and had been using a spare bedroom with a desk pushed against the wall — functional for calls, unbearable for anything else. He wanted a room that felt like a study, not a workstation he happened to sleep near.
The one fixed point of the brief: a reading chair he already owned and refused to give up.
The Approach
The desk was recessed into an arched alcove, walnut shelving built floor to ceiling on the opposite wall, and the reading chair placed by the window where the light is best in the afternoon. Warm task lighting replaces the single overhead bulb.
Nothing in the room reads as 'office equipment' when the laptop is closed.
