The Brief
The loft had real character on paper — high ceilings, exposed brick, huge windows — but the couple who bought it described living in it as 'camping in a gallery.' Every surface was hard, and sound carried through the whole open plan.
They wanted to keep the industrial bones. They did not want to keep feeling cold in their own living room.
The Approach
Linen and warm timber were introduced at the scale that actually absorbs sound and softens a room — large rugs, upholstered seating, timber screening between zones. A proper dining area was built for slow Sunday mornings, not just for photographs.
The brick and ceiling height stayed exactly as they were. Everything at human height changed.
